LISTENING: MARKING Dr. King’s assassination 44
yrs ago today w/ his historic address,
“BEYOND VIETNAM” mp3 [11.8 Mb]
http://bit.ly/gmaove [tweet no. 2.958]

This is arguably one of the finest and most powerful
addresses ever delivered in North America; It is also,
in a profound sense, transcendental, in the great
creative tradition of Henry David Thoreau and Mahatma
Gandhi. Here, Dr. King rises above the disingenuous
and petty concerns of American empire to speak
of the challenges of peace and freedom–as actual
and relevant now as they were in 1967–not just
to former slaves and the oppressed, but to the
whole living family of humanity.
